Here He Is!!

So it's been five hundred years since I've blogged! (or so it seems!) Quick update, and then what you've all been waiting for!

Baby D was due on March 17. March 17 came and went and there was no sign of a baby. *sigh* I was dialated about 2.5 cm on the 15th and it looked like labor would need to be induced. I got a call on Monday, March 18, telling me my induction had been scheduled for March 20th and I'd need to come in on the 19th to fill out some paperwork. I was a little nervous about the induction, but at the same time thankful to know this baby was finally coming. I felt huge. I hurt. I kept having contractions that never lead to anything. I was walking all the time to try to get the labor started. It was just miserable.

Late Monday night, I started having some more regular contractions, but they were every 7-12 minutes and then would go away for a while. I ended up falling asleep for a bit and waking up at 3am with the most unbelievable pain ever!It was such a deep, intense pain and no matter what way I moved it still hurt. I continued timing them and at this point they were 3-5 minutes apart and time to go to the hospital!

I'll spare you those details for now, but Baby D arrived at 2:05pm on Tuesday, March 19, 2013! He was 20" long and 8lbs 5oz and perfect in every way!

So, what you've really been waiting for is pictures! For whatever reason, Blogger won't let me upload any right now, so to hold you over 'til I can, check out some cute ones I've posted on Instagram! And you can se his first ever photo shoot pictures here!

I'll try to update a bit more often so you can see how he grows!!:)

Baby D's Baby Shower!

Last weekend some of the girls from work put on an amazing baby shower for us!
The decorations were fun; the food was delish; the gifts were amazing; and it was great to have so many friends celebrating with us!

The party was scheduled for 1-5, and being the guests of honor we made sure to get there a little before 1. A huge surprise was that my Nana had driven over two hours to be there!!
But then no one else was showing up. I was so nervous that no one else was coming! That was silly because people treated it more like an open house and started showing up around 2.

While waiting for the party to begin, we got to have all the fun (bird and pig) themed food that the girls had prepared! Wings! Pigs in a blanket! Deviled eggs!

The games were fun and not tacky (thankfully!) We started with a TV Moms Trivia game. Kimi would read off the names of the TV children and the first team to answer what TV show it was got a point--a bonus point if they could provide the name of the mom! It ranged from shows like the Brady Bunch and Partridge Family to the Cosby Show, Home Improvement, and even Family Guy and the Simpsons!

After that it was gift and Bingo time! Each person got a Bingo card and filled in all the squares for items they thought may show up when opening gifts! (Chris and I each got Bingo!)
The gifts were fabulous! Lots of people got stuff right off the registry so it was almost all stuff we actually wanted:)

The end of the party was just some informal socializing and cupcakes!! OMG, the cake was simply fabulous!!
And there was this amazing punch! (I'm told it was a Paula Deen recipe made of lime sherbet, ginger ale, and pineapple juice!) Sooo very yummy!!
All in all, it was a super fun day!

Ooh! And I can't forget to show you how my nails turned out! Yes, I even did Angry Birds nails!!:)
Well, my toes were baby blue with little baby feet on them;)

Updates and Such!

Ahhhh! It's been sooo long since I've posted on this blog! Let's see if I can do a whirlwind catch up!

Christmas was fun; traveled half way across the world (or at least to the middle of the United States lol) to visit Chris's family. It was cold; I decided I still do not like being cold. It was a great trip other than that though! We got a LOT of stuff for Baby D including a hand-me-down mini-van! (Oh yes, I'm *that* mom now;)

While we were there, we did the 3D/4D Ultrasound! The whole pregnancy, I'd had kinda mixed feelings about it because insurance doesn't cover it; it's not medically necessary, blah blah blah. We did it. And the little man is simply gorgeous!! I am totally and completely in love with him! He was being difficult and kept his arm in front of his face for most of the session (Chris says it looks like he's sucking on it. Great, some kids suck their arms or toes, *mine* sucks on his arm!! Crazy kid.

We got one where it looks like he's smiling. Chris thinks it's more of a grimace...lol. Regardless, he's the cutest baby ever! (I know, I know, every mom says that about her baby, but he really is!)

Some of the pix make his nose look flat, but he's just smooshing against the side of my uterus or something. (and he was using the placenta as a pillow! This kid is ingenious!) But it's a cute little button nose just like his Daddy's.

The way I see it, he got Daddy's eyes and nose and my lips and cheeks (poor kid). I can honestly not wait to meet him for real and see how closely he resembles these pictures!
his little hand grabbing his little toes!
So! Here we are now at almost 32 weeks! OMG! It honestly feels like we just started this adventure and here in just 5 weeks he'll be considered "full term" and we'll get to meet him in about 8 weeks! Then our lives will never be the same!

I'm up 22lbs right now and still feeling pretty good. Lately, I've been getting some lower back pain (especially if I walk a lot or try to do too much); and some tightening/cramping in my stomach area (Braxton Hicks? possibly).

As for Baby D, he is still doing great!! As of our last appointment, he was measuring just a half a week ahead of schedule. His movements are becoming more alien-like as he runs out of room in there. It's crazy to see my entire stomach roll out from one side to another lol.

The baby shower is just a week away now! And I'm hoping for at least a decent turn out! We still don't have a lot of local friends here; and some ladies from work were sweet enough to host and plan a party for me anyway!:) More on that later!
